Tom Cummins
Tom is a second generation builder, who served his apprenticeship and early working years with his father whose company specialised in the construction of homes for graziers. He has recently been invited guest presenter at the NQ Economic Development Conference 2006, the Australia Fiji Business Council Conference 2006, and the University of Queensland. Tom has wide experience in controlling the management and supervision of multiple, diverse projects from a central administration, including general construction and civil works for Government and major corporate clients. During his career Tom has been involved in the design and development of a number of new townships in the Central Queensland area. This, together with his technical and practical knowledge, make him one of a small group of professionals who have the ability and practical know-how to plan, co-ordinate and overview the total construction of a town through all facets of design, layout, and construction of civil works, public utilities, housing, commercial requirements and myriad other factors which come together to become a town. Jill CumminsAs a director and a senior manager with over 30 years experience in office administration and procedures in the building industry, Jill's full time role with Ark Homes includes responsibilities for financial control, tender and contract documentation, quality assurance, production programming and procedures. Jill was previously Personal Assistant to the Head of Civil Engineering, CQ University and had three years with Utah Development Company where she was Assistant to the Project Manager who was in overall control of the construction and operation of three new townships (Dysart, Moranbah and Blackwater extension). While with Utah, her duties included involvement in the drafting of the specification used for all Utah contracts, preparation of contract documents, receipt of tenders for housing and civil projects, weekly reports to head office on contract status and contractor's performance, progress payments, and general assistance in contract management. As two of these townships were built from a virgin scrub stage, all aspects of construction and civil engineering requirements were experienced. During her three years with the Woorabinda Aboriginal Council, Jill was responsible for establishing administrative procedures, generating and administering contractual documents for construction projects being let by the Council, accounts processing and on-the-job training of local personnel. As a working Director of NPM, Jill developed the tender and contract documentation for numerous and diverse projects including Total Township Development, Aged Persons Homes, Sewer Installation, Roadworks, Mechanical Workshop, Community Health Centre, Indoor Basketball Courts, the long term operation of ships for the Australian Institute of Marine Science. In addition, Jill wrote the contracts between NPM and the Principal, NPM and the Consultants and NPM and trade package Sub-Contractors for both the Outrigger Reef Fiji Resort and Sofitel Denarau Island Resort projects in Fiji. |
